Kayles First Bath

Jason and I tag teamed and gave Kayle her first bath on Monday before we headed to meet Kayle's new doctor.
She did really well considering she was having her first bath. At first she didn't really react, but then once we started washing her and pouring the warm water over her she started to cry. Hopefully, she will start to enjoy it sooner rather than later!

Hanging out with Daddy!

Kayle certainly likes to hang out with her Daddy...
It's so cute to see them together... Jason is such a big softy when it comes to his daughter!

Sleeping is a luxury!

And so it begins... sleeping when you can.
Sitting up, standing up, lying down, however you can get 40 winks...

Kayle's Name

A few people have asked Jason and I about Kayle's name and if we changed it and how it is pronounce it... so, we wanted to clarify it for everyone.

Her name is pronounced KALE... like rhyming with DALE, and PALE
but we added the Y to it because we liked it better and it was more girlie.

It's not KAY-LE...

Hope that clarifys it for those who were asking.

At home... all comfy and relaxed!

So, we are home already... we left the hospital exactly 32 hours after we checked in!
Is that a world record??

Jason and I are certainly happy to be at home in our own bed with our own things and with a TV with more than 5 channels!

Our room & first guests

After Kayle was born and the doctors had all finished checking over both her and myself, they moved us into our own room. It was pretty big for a hospital room. There was a table and chairs and a bench that turned into a bed, or supposed bed, for Jason to sleep on.Kayle had her own little bed on wheels. She was wrapped up nice and warm and basically just chilled out for the rest of the day eating and sleeping and eating and sleeping!
This is the cool hat that the hospital gave Kayle...
I pulled it down a little more so it looked a little nicer! Our friend Natalia arrived right after Kayle was born and so was able to share in the fun with us.

Labour... whoever said it was fun is CRAZY!!

So... it's 1am on Friday 24th October and I can't sleep because I am having this funny feeling in my tummy... I'm in LABOUR!!
I got up as quietly as I could so that I didn't wake up Jason and went and sat out on the computer. Little did I know that 8 hours later I would be in the hospital with a newborn daughter!
Jason and I hung out at home until about 5.30am just to make sure that the contractions were real... they were! We were timing them and monitoring how long they were lasting, but I was pretty sure that we were going to need to head to the hospital.

I called the delivery hotline and they confirmed our suspicions and so we headed into the hospital. We arrived there at 6am and were put into a monitoring room where the nurse checked on Kayle's heart beat and my contractions.
The contractions weren't too bad at first, but the certainly got stronger. Once they nurses realised that my labour was progressing extremely quickly they moved us into a delivery room.
This is Kayle's delivery station where they put her after she is born to make sure she is AOK.
Coping with the contractions was OK, Jason was amazing. He helped me stay focused on relaxing and breathing the right way. His sister, Jesi, was also with me to help, just in case Jason needed a break... there were no breaks because Kayle was born so Quickly! Jesi really helped me focus too, it was great having her there to support Jason and help out.
Here in America they give you a drug called an Epidural that numbs your legs so that you don't feel the pain as bad. I didn't want any drugs, I really wanted to have Kayle the natural way... Keep reading to see how I got on!
This is the controls that were on my bed... they person is a little pregnant lady!
How funny is that!
These are my contractions on paper... having them monitored was great because Jesi would tell me when they were subsiding so I knew the pain was going away... for about 45 seconds until the next one started!
The nurse gave me oxygen because they were worried about Kayle's heart beat... at one point they had problems finding it with the monitor but we worked out it was the position that my legs were in. I had to move into a slightly different position so that they could continually have Kayle's heart beat on the monitor.
After 45 minutes of good old pushing, Kayle came right on out... it was SO amazing!
Painful... but amazing!

The doctor gave her straight to me and Jason and I got to have her all to ourselves for a little while so we could get to know our new daughter.

Here she is.. all 7lbs and 1 oz of her! She was beautiful even covered in gunk!
The nurse took her away to clean her up so that she was a little bit nicer to hold. The new addition... Kayle Lily Kyser!
This si the 'Celebration Dinner' that we got given by the hospital... it was yummy Mango Chicken with roasted potatoes and broccoli, a little salad, dinner roll and yummy cheesecake! The best bit was the Sparkling Cider... it was yummy. It came in a mini champagne bottle! The proud dad!

So... did I have any drugs... NO!
I had a totally natural labour and child brith! The IV in my hand was for fluids only because I was being sick and couldn't keep down anything, not even water.

Only 2 weeks to go... we hope!

There are only 2 weeks to go until Kale's delivery date...
that's 14 days...
336 hours...
20,160 minutes...

I have been having check up's with my midwife and things are looking good... Kale could arrive any minute but it could also be another 2 or 3 weeks.

Let's hope she decides to show her face sooner rather than later.

We got Baptised!

Jason and I got baptised last Sunday and it was amazing. We were both baptised as children but we have both grown in our faith and
beliefs over the last 4 years
so much that we wanted to take the next step and get bapitsed.

We headed down to the beach in San Clemente where we met the pastors from our new church and we got bapitsed at the beach in the ocean, it was so much fun.We had fun laughing with everyone before we headed out into the waves...
of course, my tummy was one of the bigger jokes!Jason got baptised first, then me. I was worried about floating away in the waves so the pastors held on to me a little tighter and I had Jason on hand to grab me!
This is us afterwards...
Tons of our friends were there and we all headed back to our house
afterward for a scrummy BBQ.

New Kids, New Kids, New Kids, New Kids

The night FINALLY arrived when Jesi, Jenn and I hit up the Staples Center in LA for the New Kids On The Block concert... it was a BLAST!!
Here we are picking up Jenn in our coolio t-shirts... we were all ready to hit the town!
Jesi with her Push Pop... i got the girls a few 'treats' to reminisce about the old days!
Jenn with her Push pop getting all ready for a night of fun fun fun and dancing dancing dancing!
I was driving so had to be extremely careful, but here I am with my whistle all ready for Hangin' Tough!
Outside the Staples Center... I really wanted to take my sign in with me but I wasn't allowed because the production team had said NO SIGNS! Can you believe it... I was almost in tears! So, we got our shot outside and then threw it away!

The wonderful... Miss. Natasha Bedingfield was the opening act. She did us Brits proud! She was really good and everyone seemed to like her.

And finally... the band arrive and open up with The Right Stuff... the night continued with absolute classics mixed with a few of their new tunes.
I had so much fun dancing and singing away to their oldies but goodies.

This fun video shows Jordan at his best...
I'm pretty sure he used to do this when NKOTB were first together!
The good old days...

More and more check ups

Here are the most recent pictures of Kale. I got them today when I went to the hospital for some tests. If you look really carefully you can see her face.
In this picture, you can see her face. Her little eye, nose and cheek.
You can also see her face in this one if you look carefully enough.
In this one you can see her hand really clearly. Her hand was right up next to her face the whole time she was being looked at... she is like her dad... she doesn't like having her picture taken!
