Almost done... just the biggest project left!

The floors that are in the house are fir. they were stainted with a red finish. We didn't like the red finish so we sanded of the old stain and added our own... sounds easy right? No! Not at all!
This is them before...

Jason had already gone over all the floors and sanded the old finish off, I just had to do the edges!

Me with the edge sander... boy, was that an experience The thing drags you from side to side! It was hilarious!

We are going for a lighter, more natural coloured finish. We still have to add the stain yet.

The painting begins!

I like painting... or i used to!
We decided to go with the old craftsman theme with the house and picked colours that were complimentary... (Jason's words, he's the designer!)
Kayle was a wonderful help throughout the whole process!
She was involved in every step and was the best baby ever! She just hung out with us and watched us doing all the work.

We went with a green colour for the living room.

Kayle's room is the same light brown that it was in California. It looks a yellow colour in this picture, but it s really a brown colour!

And our room is light blue.
I can't wait till this is done. I was up till 2am painting the other night because we had to have it finished before we could paint the ceilings and re-finish floors! And to make things worse, Jason has the flu! he is battling on, but really struggling!

And still, we work!

Fun times next... well for me anyway!
I got to cover all the plasterboard screws with plaster. Poor Jason hates doing plaster so this was not fun for him. He had to plaster all the joins and corners.
Next came primer! We had to spray primer over the plasterboard to seal it.
Before we could spray I had to cover all the doors and windows in plastic. That wasn't fun!
We are finally bigging to feel like we are making progress.
It was a little overwhelming there for a while!

The work continues!

The new fireplace is in thanks to our wonderful friend Rob!
He not only gave us the fireplace, but then he installed it for us! It'll will be the only way we heat our house!
Then begins the plaster board!
We are beginning to make progress! We are only doing the 2 bedrooms, the hallway and the living room at the moment because they are the areas that can't wait and it would be a huge pain to do all this once we were in the house!

The work begins!

And so the renovations on the house begin!

We have 3 weeks to get it done, so we are going to be working really hard for the next month!
First things first... we had to DEMOLISH everything! fun fun fun!

We had to rip off all the old plywood walls and ceiling tiles.

We had to pull of some of the wall to allow for our wonderful new fireplace!
