Visitors from the other side of the world

On Wednesday 11th June, I arrived home after a long day at work to find some strange people in my house... it was my Aunty Pauline & Uncle David from New Zealand! They came to stay with us while they were in America seeing my cousins Richard and Hannah who were having a baby. It was lovely to see them.

On Saturday we took a trip to San Diego to meet up with a friend of Paulines... a lady called Gloria who used to be the lead singer of my Dad's band. Gloria works on a HUGE cruise ship and just happened to be docked in San Diego for the day. So, up we all got, and hit the road!

We met Gloria outside a hotel right opposite the docks and walked across the road. We went through some seriously tight security before we were allowed on the boat but it was all so much fun. We had a lovely FREE yummy lunch while we were there and got a private tour of this MASSIVE boat! It was certainly an experience you don't get to do everyday. This is us as we were leaving. We had the whole boat to ourselves, apart from the crew, so we got to wonder around and explore.
While we were in San Diego, we took Pauline and David to the little Fisherman's Village right near the docks and had a walk around. We found a great shop that Pauline and David loved... it was all stuff from New Zealand!!

On Sunday we took Pauline and David out on 'Blue Thunder'. It was a bit rough. The waves were pretty big, but it was still fun! We were shooting along towards the harbour at about 20mph and then had to stop because of the rules of the Harbour and the waves came up over the back of the boat and soaked Pauline... it wasn't the hottest of days, poor Pauline was a bit went! Lucky she had her swimming togs on!
Their last night with us, we had a yummy dinner in the garden. Pauline cooked up a storm in the kitchen before I got home from work and so it was all ready as I pulled up... now thats service! Pauline and David are now off up to Seattle to see Richard and Hannah and their little baby girl, Thea. We are hoping that they will have time to pop in and see us again before they leave at the end of July. They are driving from Seattle to LA and may have a few spare days before they fly out. Fingers Crossed!
