July 4th... armed and ready!

It's 4th July... It's time for the legendary Dana Point Harbor Water Fight.

We came ready this year, with tons of water guns, warm clothes and the boat stocked to the brim with food and water to last us the day.

We started the morning surrounded by fog... we got down to the harbor at about 10.30am because last year it was a nightmare to park the boat trailer after 11am. We cruised the harbor for a hour or so until some of the fog started to clear. While we were cruising the harbor we drove through the already crazy water fight but hid our guns so that we didn't get shot at. That was working... UNTIL Megan got out her gun and aimed it at another boat! As soon as that happened, we got completely and utterly SOAKED! Everyone seemed to aim at us and have direct hits! It was actually hilarious because we were soaked and the day hadn't even begun yet.
Here is Amy... wringing out her top!

Dan doing some VITAL and completely necessary gun repairs!

Because we got so wet before we were really ready, we had to hang up out clothes to dry when the sun came out!

After we were done with the water fight for a little while we headed out into deep waters... and look what we found! We found a HUGE pod of dolphins. Now, when I say HUGE I mean, at least 500 or so. They were all traveling really fast in a straight line. We think they were moving house! They were jumping in the wake of the boat and generally playing with the boat for about 2 hours. It was amazing.

Sarah & I chilling in the sun.
We decided to chill out in the deep water for a while because the sun was shining and the laughs were flowing!Megan and I having fun with the camera.

Amy... truly chilling out!

Everyone decided to jump in and go for a little dip... in 2073 foot deep water! I was a little scary at first, but once we were all in it was fun.

We headed in at about 5pm to go and get some fish and chips and get changed into our warmer clothes ready for the evening fun.
All wrapped up warm ready for the fireworks.

Amy and Dan snacking on a chocolate cookie and cheesy puff!

Getting ready for the fireworks... not long to go now!

We were provided with quite a show before the fireworks started... the sunset was just FANTASTIC!
Then, at 9pm... BOOM! The first firework shot off of the barge that was right in front of us. We hung back a bit when all the other boats were anchoring so that we could get a good spot... and without trying we got front row seats. It was great.Fun was had by all and a great fireworks show was seen.
Same again next year kids...!
