We packed up and headed to Canada on Friday morning for the day... well, that was the plan until we had to stay the night! We got up, got ready and started our drive up to the ferry terminal that would take us across the Sound to Canada...
On our way we drove past fields FULL of blooming daffodils... they were amazing to look at, this photo doesn't show the full extent of the yellow that seemed to go on for miles.
Sarah and Kayle were in the back seat together... they were like little children on a fun road trip!
Our original plan was to get the ferry from Anacortes, but when we arrived at the terminal the nice man on the security gate told us that the ferry we needed didn't start running until Sunday when the Spring Schedule started! It was Friday! We were 2 days early! I am certainly my mothers daughter... she took us to France a day early when we were little!
So we drove a little further north and crossed into Canada at the border.
We then drove to a different ferry terminal and got the ferry to Victoria.
Needless to say it was chilly on the top deck of the ferry!
The ferry crossing took about 2 1/2 hours but everyone found interesting things to do to entertain themselves!
Once we arrived in Victoria we drove to the town to find a hotel for the night seeing as it was almost 4pm when we arrived. We found a cheap place and then went exploring. We were right opposite the harbor/ docks. We saw tons of sea planes.
The government offices.
A very friendly Black Bear let us take our photo with him.
The government offices at night... looks a bit like Harrods!
We got up on Saturday morning and spent the day walking around Victoria. Despite the chilly wind and rain, fun was certainly had by all. We got the 4pm ferry back to Port Angeles and were home by 10pm. It was fun exploring.
