Pack 'em up... Move 'em out... Canada here we come!
We packed up and headed to Canada on Friday morning for the day... well, that was the plan until we had to stay the night! We got up, got ready and started our drive up to the ferry terminal that would take us across the Sound to Canada...
On our way we drove past fields FULL of blooming daffodils... they were amazing to look at, this photo doesn't show the full extent of the yellow that seemed to go on for miles.
Sarah and Kayle were in the back seat together... they were like little children on a fun road trip!
Our original plan was to get the ferry from Anacortes, but when we arrived at the terminal the nice man on the security gate told us that the ferry we needed didn't start running until Sunday when the Spring Schedule started! It was Friday! We were 2 days early! I am certainly my mothers daughter... she took us to France a day early when we were little!
So we drove a little further north and crossed into Canada at the border.
We then drove to a different ferry terminal and got the ferry to Victoria.
Needless to say it was chilly on the top deck of the ferry!
The ferry crossing took about 2 1/2 hours but everyone found interesting things to do to entertain themselves!
Once we arrived in Victoria we drove to the town to find a hotel for the night seeing as it was almost 4pm when we arrived. We found a cheap place and then went exploring. We were right opposite the harbor/ docks. We saw tons of sea planes.
The government offices.
A very friendly Black Bear let us take our photo with him.
The government offices at night... looks a bit like Harrods!
We got up on Saturday morning and spent the day walking around Victoria. Despite the chilly wind and rain, fun was certainly had by all. We got the 4pm ferry back to Port Angeles and were home by 10pm. It was fun exploring.

Seattle with Sarah
Kayle and I took Sarah into Seattle to do some sightseeing yesterday. We started at Pikes Place Market where we strolled around looking at all the beautiful flowers and smelly fish. We found a great little French bakery where we got a delicious Pain au Chocolat and lemonade.

My Giggly Girl
I finally amanaged to get Kayle on camera laughing and giggling. It has taken me over 2 weeks but with the help of my cousin, we got it tonight!
You are going to die when you hear her laughing and giggling. It is SO CUTE!

Kayle meets her cousin... or is it 2nd cousin... I don't know!
My cousin Sarah arrived last night and Kayle got to meet her for the first time.
Deception Pass... we came, we conquered!
On Saturday we went on a fun family outing.
We drove up north a bit to Deception Pass State Park.
We drove up north a bit to Deception Pass State Park.
There is this really HIGH bridge that goes over a big river that is part of the Sound. We tried to walk over it but chickened out after a few steps because the bridge was wobbling when we were on it and it freaked me out! I don't like heights!
North Beach from up by the bridge.
We walked down under the bridge down a windy path to North Beach. It was really nice to see the bridge from down by the water.

We drove past this cool Air Force Base. While we were driving along we kept hearing this really loud noise but couldn't work out what it was. Then out of nowhere we saw this massive jet flying over our heads!
We took the ferry home. It was the first time Kayle had been on a boat! She enjoyed looking out the window at the water. Jason even saw a whale!

Winter Warmers Needed!
Kayle now has to be dressed a little different for bed...
They are the best thing EVER! They keep her nice and warm and I can sleep better because I am not worrying all night that she is cold because her blankets have fallen off!
We never needed them in Sunny So Cal, but now we are living where it SNOWS, we need them! We were really lucky because my new boss gave us 3 of them and my Mum is making her some more that are a little bigger! As you can see, Kayle loves them!

Look who's a big girl
I sat Kayle in her cool foam chair called a Bumbo and she liked it! She only lasted about 15 minutes but that's good considering she is pretty much holding herself up!

Saturday Morning River Walk
On Saturday morning we got up, had some breakfast, got all wrapped up and went to explore our new neighbourhood.
We walked along the river as far as we could go and then back again... it was really nice to get up and have a nice walk in the fresh air... I'm liking this new 'living in the country' thing!
The river has a little beach for the local residents. It got ruined a bit when they had big floods not too long ago, but everyone is going to pitch in and clean it up so that it can be used in the summer.Towards the end of the river, right before it turns, there is a little quiet calm bit that everyone swims in. I can't wait to see it in the summer... bit too cold to swim in at the moment!
